Principal’s Corner
Welcome to North Shore Middle School!
At North Shore Middle School, we strive to create a dynamic and supportive learning environment for all of our sixth through eighth grade students. Our staff believes that building positive relationships with our students and families is key to our students’ success. Adolescence is a time of immense change, and our caring staff is committed to supporting our students developmentally throughout their middle school journey.
We offer a range of challenging courses at North Shore Middle School, designed to meet the needs of our individual learners. As students begin to learn more about themselves as learners and explore potential career options, our staff works hard to engage students in activities that deepen their critical thinking skills and apply to real-world situations. We provide opportunities for career exploration both within the classroom and through our annual Career Day. In a world of technological advancements, we offer students opportunities to explore their interests in STEM classes such as medical engineering, aerospace engineering, robotics, design and modeling, and app creation.
Our staff also understands that middle schoolers are social! Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of before- and after-school activities that help build connections with their classmates, promote leadership, and further foster passion in their areas of interest. At North Shore Middle School, we offer jazz band, drama club, Dungeons and Dragons, honors choir, math club, knitting club, robotics, student council, North Shore Middle School Buddies, and AMSAC athletics as part of our extracurricular offerings. Our student council initiates service learning opportunities within our school and the greater community. Students are also encouraged to participate in our school spirit days, dances, and open gyms!
The staff at North Shore Middle School is committed to ensuring that students are provided with an academic experience that prepares them for the challenges of high school and beyond. Our school partners with Arrowhead High School to offer students the opportunity to take geometry on-site for high school credit. Our school is consistently rated as “Significantly Exceeds Expectations” on the Wisconsin state report card and is ranked among the top five middle schools in the state. We were thrilled when it was announced this fall that our school has been recognized as a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School, receiving awards for both “high academic achievement” and “closing academic achievement gaps.” We could not do this work without the strong support and partnerships from our families and the community.
It is a pleasure to serve as the principal of North Shore Middle School. We look forward to working with you and your child to ensure a seamless transition from middle school to high school!
Warm regards,
Michele Schmidt
