Hartland-Lakeside Charter Schools
The
Hartland/Lakeside School District is proud to offer parents an educational
option with two charter schools opening in the fall of 2010. The first charter school is a multi-aged
student directed
learning
community for grades 3-5. The second charter is for grades 6-8 and is
an entrepreneurial enterprise with project-based learning involving the
organization and operation of an organic farm.
Each charter stresses collaboration, critical and creative thinking,
research, and extended learning.
Our
charters offer students from various abilities an opportunity to explore and
challenge their thinking and to learn productively utilizing the strengths of
their individual learning style. The
community environment of the charters depends on student teamwork and
collaboration, with the expectation that every child will strive to support the
objectives of the school. Learning
standards are high and students are required to meet the rigor and challenges
of an enriched project-based learning curriculum. The essence of the charters fosters
independence and interdependence, where their learning is extended to a greater
community that will prepare them to meet the challenges of a global market.
