Community Education Program

The Hartland/Lakeside School District has developed and begun operation of a Community Education program for district residents.

Community Education is a concept which suggests that resident taxpayers have paid for, and continue to pay for the public schools in the community.  The concept also suggests that public schools belong to the community and as such local residents should be granted the opportunity to use school facilities when not used for providing basic instruction to school district children.  Long-term program development includes and embraces the notion of lifelong learning for everyone.

By exploring, developing and operating a community education program, the school system extends its resources and expertise to provide educational, recreational and social programs and services for its residents.  By utilizing public schools, which have the greatest concentration of trained and qualified professionals in a community, a formal community education program can enhance and improve the quality of life for area residents.

The Hartland/Lakeside Community Education program will provide programs for youth, adults and senior citizens of the greater Hartland community in collaboration with the Hartland Park, Recreation and Community Education program.

Area residents are encouraged to contact Jack Bryan, Community Education Coordinator at the Hartland/Lakeside School District with ideas for program development, community needs and help in planning for activities not already available in the Hartland area.
